The senior airworthiness engineer will be the primary responsible party for ensuring that the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) manufactured by the company comply with airworthiness standards and national and international regulatory requirements. Their role encompasses everything from the design phase to production and operation, ensuring compliance with current regulations and leading certification processes in coordination with the relevant aviation authorities. 

This position requires close collaboration with the design, quality, and production teams, providing technical guidance on regulations and certification. Additionally, it will be the key point of contact for internal and external audits, ensuring that compliance procedures and documentation are aligned with industry best practices. 

He/She will be responsible for developing certification strategies, identifying potential regulatory risks, and defining mitigation plans to ensure that the company's products can operate legally and safely in the airspace.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage airworthiness certification strategies for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities (EASA, AESA, INTA, or other relevant organizations) to obtain certifications.
  • Review and approve technical documentation related to airworthiness, including safety analysis and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure that the design, manufacturing, and maintenance processes comply with certification and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and electronic design teams to ensure that products meet safety and performance regulations.

Must have

  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in airworthiness and certification in the aerospace or UAS industry.
  • Experience in the management of certifications with EASA, AESA, FAA, or INTA.
  • Experience in the implementation of regulations such as Part 21, CS-UAS, or equivalents.
  • Deep knowledge of airworthiness and certification regulations.
  • Skills in managing technical and regulatory projects.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve technical and regulatory problems.
  • Proficiency in technical English (oral and written).

Desirable

  • Previous experience in the certification of unmanned aircraft in specific and certified categories.
  • Knowledge in risk management and operational safety methodologies (SMS - Safety Management System).
  • Experience with DO-178C (Software) and DO-254 (Hardware) standards.
  • Experience in structural analysis and compliance testing for aircraft.
  • Knowledge in aircraft modeling and simulation for regulatory compliance validation.
  • Additional certifications in aerospace quality (AS9100).
  • Experience in the integration of electrical and electronic systems in unmanned aircraft.
